Bobby Segal

Assistant Coach


Bobby Segal is in his first season as a volunteer assistant with the Butler baseball program. Segal, a former baseball player at Indiana University, is responsible for the catchers, coaches first base and assists with Butler's offensive strategy.

Segal comes to Butler after spending two seasons at Union College (NAIA) in Barbourville, Ky. During his two seasons at Union, Segal helped the team to a 92-30 record and a berth in the 2008 NAIA World Series. In 2009, the team advanced to the first round of the NAIA National Championship.

Before going to Union, Segal spent six months as an intern in the Baseball Operations department with the Cincinnati Reds. He also has served in several roles with the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Segal is also experienced as an instructor in college baseball camps across the nation. He has worked camps at Butler for two years. Additionally, he has worked camps at some of college baseball's top programs: Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.

Segal, a three-year letterwinner and Academic All-Big Ten selection at Indiana, graduated from IU in May 2006 with a degree in sport management. He earned his master's in health/physical education from Union College in May 2009.
