Team Gillin Clinches Fall World Series With 1-0 Extra-Innings Victory
Oct. 3, 2007
Indianapolis, Ind. - Freshman Kevin Rotherham made the game-saving defensive play and drove home what would be the winning run as Team Gillin held off Team Brown, 1-0, in 10 innings to claim the 2007 Butler Fall World Series title.
Rotherham took away what would have become the winning run from Team Brown, making a spectacular diving stop to rob freshman outfielder Rahdric Dix of a hit and throwing home to nail Austin Nickol at the plate.
In the top half of the 10th, the rookie shortstop then provided the offense that Team Gillin needed, plating Jared Wagoner from third on a sacrifice fly.
Junior right-hander Ryan Kruszka worked a scoreless bottom half of the frame to earn the save and seal the win.
