Bulldogs Compile Season For The Ages
During the team’s training trip to Italy in the summer of 2009, Butler’s players had an opportunity to visit The Coliseum in Rome. There, a guide told the Bulldogs about how the historic facility was built to last. Butler will face Minnesota in the first round of the 2009 76 Classic basketball tournament, which will be held Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 26, 27 and 29, at the Anaheim (Calif.) Convention Center, adjacent to Disneyland. The eight-team tournament will be broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPNU.

Bulldogs Travel To Italy For Summer Basketball Tour
Butler head coach Brad Stevens will get an early preview of his 2009-10 basketball squad when he takes the team to Italy for a 10-day summer basketball tour. The Bulldogs, who will depart Indianapolis on August 4, will visit four cities and play four games on the foreign trip.

Butler’s Gordon Hayward scored a game-high 20 points and helped lead the USA to a 93-73 victory over Canada in the quarterfinals of the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. The win sends the USA against Croatia (6-1) in the semifinals of the 16-team tournament.

The USA survived its toughest test of the tournament and advanced to the medal round of the FIBA U19 World Championship with a hard-fought 76-69 second round victory over Lithuania. The victory lifted the USA to 6-0 in the tournament.

The win was the fourth straight for the U.S. squad in the 16-nation tournament.
