Ronald Nored Earns Academic All-League Honors
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- The list of honors continues to grow for
Butler senior guard Ronald Nored. The Butler
co-captain, who wrapped up a stellar career in March, was one of
five players named to the 2011-12 Horizon League Men’s
Basketball Academic All-League Team, released by the league office
on Tuesday, April 24.
Nored, an Early Childhood/Middle Childhood Education major, was
joined on the Academic All-League Team by Ray McCallum of Detroit,
Ben Averkamp and Walt Gibler of Loyola and Tony Meier of
Milwaukee. It was the second straight year that the Butler
backcourt player was chosen to the Academic All-League squad.
The league academic recognition is the latest in a series of honors
for Nored, who finished his final season as Butler’s all-time
leader in games played (143). Nored was named first team on
the Capital One Academic All-District V Team and was selected
second team Capital One Academic All-America. He was one of
ten finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, and he was
named Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award first team Al-American.
Nored, who set a Butler single season record with 193 assists in
2011-12, was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and
was chosen second team All-Horizon League. He became one of
just two players in Butler basketball history to record 400 career
points, 400 career rebounds and 400 careers assists, and he
finished his career in second place on the Bulldogs’ all-time
assist chart with 497 career assists.
Nored, who will graduate in May, won’t have to spend time
wondering about the next step in his career. He was named
head basketball coach at Brownsburg (Ind.) High School in
March.
