Post Game Quotes

Butler Head Coach Brad Stevens:
"I thought both teams executed well offensively and got good looks. They made plays down the stretch that separated the game. It's easy to get caught in runs and try to do a little bit more than maybe you want to in a possession, and we might have gotten caught up in that."
On the play of Drake: "I thought they made timely plays. We were up four with about seven minutes to go and bang, 9-0 run. That's who they are. That's what they do. I thought we got pretty decent looks, but it was probably more of trying to guard their penetration."
Butler Guard A.J. Graves:
"I think we did pretty well most of the game, but there were times when we let it slip. Drake made the plays they needed to make to win the game."
On what Butler can take away from the game: "Each game is good experience for us. You want to win every game you can, but when we don't, we have to take the right approach to it and learn from it. That's what we're going to have to do."
Drake Head Coach Keno Davis:
"I thought today's game was very representative of how hard this team has played all year. We haven't won games in conference in convincing fashion, winning by 10 or 20, but have been able to play hard enough that we have been able to be in games at the end and then found a way to win games."
"Butler is obviously a tremendous team. They will be picked to go very far in the NCAA Tournament, so for us to come in here and have a chance to win in the last few minutes I think shows how hard our team has worked from the first day of practice."
On trying to earn respect as a ranked team: "I think our players are sick of me using the respect card. I think we used the ninth-place [Missouri Valley Preseason Poll pick] for about three months, so I've been trying to give that a rest."
"Every time we win a game we're setting some sort of record. I'm sure that beating a top-10 team hasn't happened for a long time. In the preseason, with [the BracketBusters] coming up, it would have been easy to pick Butler to be in this marquee game, but not too many people would have had Drake."
Drake Guard Josh Young:
On drawing a foul on a three-point attempt at the end of the game: "I knew the shot clock was running down, thought I'd put it up there and see what happened."
Drake Guard Adam Emmenecker:
On being able to enjoy the win: "One thing [coach Davis] talks about a lot is that we do have to appreciate it. We have to appreciate where we are and what we're doing because it's going to be over quickly. We have to appreciate the ride, but at the same time, that helps keep us focused and makes us understand that we have to be ready to play every night and that we're going to play a lot of good teams, especially in conference. To be able to get a game like this on the road has been great for us."
