ATHENS, Ohio (AP) - Jeremy Fears scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half to help Ohio beat Butler 64-58 on Thursday night.
Mychal Green had 13 points and Terren Harbut added 10 for the Bobcats (2-0).
Green hit back-to-back 3-pointers to finish off an 8-0 run that gave the Bobcats a 27-19 lead in the first half. Butler committed 11 turnovers in the first half and Ohio led 33-24 at the break.
The Bulldogs pulled within 44-42 on two free throws by Nick Brooks with 13:12 remaining in the game but Fears responded with two free throws to help hold them off.
Fears, a freshman point guard, connecting on 5 of 8 shots from the field in his first career start.
Butler outrebounded Ohio 33-32 but shot just 35 percent from the field.
The Bulldogs had won seven straight games against Ohio before Thursday.
