The national spotlight will be directed toward Hinkle Fieldhouse for the second straight year when "Top 25" teams Butler and Drake square off in the 2008 O'Reilly ESPNU BracketBusters event on Feb. 23. The game will be a part of ESPN's national television package for the three-day event and the start time will be announced on Feb. 11.
Drake, one of the hottest teams in the country, is ranked 15th in this week's ESPN/USA Today national poll. The Des Moines, Iowa, squad boasts a 20-1 record and will carry a 19-game winning streak into a Missouri Valley Conference contest at Illinois State on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Drake leads the MVC with a perfect 11-0 record.
Butler climbed to No. 11 in this week's ESPN/USA Today national poll, despite being idle last week. The Bulldogs will take a 19-2 record to a nationally-televised game (ESPN2) at Valparaiso on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Butler currently leads the Horizon League with an 8-2 record.
Last year, Butler, ranked 12th, hosted No. 16 Southern Illinois in a BracketBusters game that attracted national attention. Southern Illinois, also from the Missouri Valley Conference, won the nationally-televised game, 68-64. Both teams eventually reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
