Matt Walker Named Head Coach At UW-River Falls
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Matt Walker, who spent last season as
tight ends coach for the Butler football team, has been named head
football coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
It’s the second head coaching appointment for the 33-year-old
coach.
Walker, who joined the Bulldogs for the 2010 season, formerly
served as head coach at DePauw, 2006-09. During his time at
DePauw, the Tigers compiled a 22-8 record and placed runner-up in
the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2007 and 2008.
He also served as an assistant coach at DePauw from 2000 to
2005.
A two-sport athlete in football and baseball as an undergraduate,
Walker earned his degree from DePauw in 1999. He earned a
master’s degree at Indiana State in 2001.
Walker becomes the 20th head football coach in UW-River Falls
history. He replaced former head coach John O’Grady,
who retired after the 2010 season.
