Eleven Butler Football Players Honored
Eleven Butler senior football players have been honored with selection to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame 2014 Hampshire Honor Society, which was announced on Tuesday, April 29. A total of 838 players from 267 schools qualified for membership, setting a new record for number of members in the society’s eighth year.

Butler Begins Spring Football Practice
Butler will kickoff five weeks of spring football drills when it holds its first 2014 practice at the Butler Bowl on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The Bulldogs will conduct 15 spring workouts, concluding with the annual Spring Game on March 29.

Gerald Chatman Named Defensive Line Coach At Butler
Gerald Chatman, who served two seasons with the football staff at Ball State, has been named defensive line coach at Butler. The Bulldogs’ new coach replaces Jerome Riase, who left Butler after two seasons to accept the position of defensive line coach at Wofford.

Jeremy Stephens Named To USA National Football Team
Butler senior football standout Jeremy Stephens has been named to the USA National Team which will compete in the inaugural World University Championships in Uppsala, Sweden this spring. The U. S. will compete against seven other countries in the Championships, slated for May 1-11.

Butler Places 61 Players On PFL Academic Honor Roll
Butler had 61 football players, or more than 60% of the team, named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for the 2013 fall semester. The Bulldogs ranked third in the 12-member PFL in total number of players named to the honor roll.

Butler Football Award Winners Announced
A trio of seniors, Trae Heeter, Jeremy Stephens and Dylan Johnson, earned “Top Dawg” recognition when Butler unveiled its team awards from the 2013 championship football season on Sunday (Jan. 19). The three were among ten players who received special honors at the team’s annual season-ending banquet.

Six Bulldogs Earn PFL Academic Honors
Seniors Jayme Szafranski and Matt Lancaster were among eight repeat selections and were joined by four Butler teammates on the 2013 Academic All-Pioneer Football League Team, released by the league office on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The 21st All-PFL Team was selected by a vote of league’s sports information directors.

Two-time, first team all-league picks Trae Heeter and Jeremy Stephens were among 16 Butler players named to the 2013 All-Pioneer Football League Team, released by the league office on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The 21st All-PFL Team was selected by a vote of league football coaches.

Bulldogs Fall To Tennessee State In NCAA Playoffs
Butler’s first appearance in the NCAA Division I Football Championship came to an end at the hands of #17 Tennessee State, 31-0, at the Butler Bowl on Saturday (Nov. 30). The loss snapped Butler’s four-game homefield winning streak.

Bulldogs Make First Division I Playoff Appearance
Butler will make school and conference history when it takes the field at the Butler Bowl against Tennessee State in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Division I Football Championship. The game against the Tigers from the Ohio Valley Conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, Nov. 30, and will be telecast on ESPN3.

Butler will make its first appearance in the NCAA Division I Football Championship in a comfortable setting. The Bulldogs were chosen to host a first round game and will face Tennessee State on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. (ET).

Bulldogs Are Headed To The NCAA Football Championship
Butler will be heading to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs for the first time in school history. The Pioneer Football League announced Tuesday (Nov. 19) that the Bulldogs won the league’s final ranking tiebreaker and will receive the league’s automatic qualifying bid to the upcoming NCAA Division I Football Championship.

Trae Heeter Named PFL Player of the Week
Senior Trae Heeter, who helped Butler wrap up its second consecutive Pioneer Football League championship, has been named PFL Offensive Player of the Week for the final full weekend of league play. It was the second time this season that the league rushing leader has been honored.

Bulldogs Clinch PFL Championship
Senior Trae Heeter rolled up 319 yards in total offense and scored five touchdowns to help Butler clinch the Pioneer Football League championship with a 58-27 victory over Morehead State on Saturday (Nov. 16). The win in the Bulldogs’ last regular season game gave Butler a share of the league title for the second consecutive year.

Jon Treloar Receives PFL Recognition
Sophomore Jon Treloar, who turned in a career-best scoring performance in Butler’s record victory over Valparaiso, has been named Pioneer Football League Co-Special Teams Player of the Week. The Butler placekicker shared the league’s weekly honor with Davidson return specialist Garrett Diehl.

Bulldogs Roll Past Valparaiso to Stay in PFL Title Contention
The Butler football team finished off their home schedule with a 72-12 win over Valparaiso Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs set records for total yards on offense (717) and most points scored in the post-World War II era in the win. Butler’s 19 seniors were also recognized prior to the game.

Quarterback Matt Lancaster ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more and Butler overcame a 21-point deficit to defeat Dayton, 33-30, at Welcome Stadium on Saturday (Nov. 2). The victory kept the Bulldogs in a tie with San Diego and Marist for first place in the Pioneer Football League.

Quarterback Wade Markley answered the biggest call of his collegiate career and helped lead Butler to a 24-14 victory over Drake in a key Pioneer Football League game at the Butler Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 19. The win, Butler’s first over Drake since 2009, kept the host Bulldogs on top of the PFL standings.

Butler, coming off a share of last year’s Pioneer Football League championship, was picked second by the narrowest of margins in the PFL’s preseason poll of league coaches. The Bulldogs received four first place votes in the poll and finished one point behind preseason league favorite San Diego.

Six of the Bulldogs, including preseason Offensive Player of the Year Matt Lancaster, were tabbed as first team picks, while three additional players were named second team on the honor squad.

Butler Adds Two Football Coaches For 2013
Butler head football coach Jeff Voris has completed his coaching staff for the 2013 season. Voris, who guided the Bulldogs to a co-championship in the Pioneer Football League last season, announced the additions of Lee Rose and Tom Dilley as assistant coaches for the upcoming campaign.
