Butler Adds Two Football Coaches For 2013

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler head football coach Jeff Voris has completed his coaching staff for the 2013 season.  Voris, who guided the Bulldogs to a co-championship in the Pioneer Football League last season, announced the additions of Lee Rose and Tom Dilley as assistant coaches for the upcoming campaign.

Rose, who was on the coaching staff at Charlotte Christian School last season, will take over as assistant defensive line coach, and he'll be involved with the Bulldogs' special teams.  Dilley, a successful high school coach in Indianapolis, will handle Butler's tight ends.

"We have been very fortunate over the years to put together a great staff," stated Voris, who will begin his eighth season with the Bulldogs in the fall.  "The additions of Lee Rose and Tom Dilley this year gives us another great group that is committed to the Butler Way.

Rose had responsibility for running backs at Charlotte Christian, where he coached North Carolina recruit Desmond Lawrence and helped the Knights to the 2012 NCISSA State Championship.  He was a collegiate football player at both the University of Richmond and Indiana University, where he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2011.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana in 2012.

"(Coach Rose) comes from a great coaching family, and he brings an outstanding work ethic and passion for the game that will be a solid influence on our team," noted Voris.

Dilley served as head coach at Bishop Chatard High School from 1990 to 2002 and as head coach at Lawrence North High School from 2003 to 2012.  He guided Chatard to a pair of state championships, including a 15-0 season in 2002, and he finished in second place on the all-time wins list at Lawrence North.  He was the Nike Indiana Coach of the Year in 2001, the Indianapolis Star Super Team Coach of the Year in 2002 and a three-time Bloomington Herald-Times 3A Coach of the Year.  He's the first person in the history of the IHSAA football playoffs to win state championships as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

"(Coach Dilley) has been an outstanding and well-respected head football coach in Indianapolis for years," said Voris.  "His experience, knowledge and teaching ability will be a tremendous benefit for our players and program."

The two new Butler coaches will join a football staff that includes Co-Defensive Coordinators Joe Cheshire and Tim Cooper, Co-Offensive Coordinator Kyle Conner, wide receivers coach Kenan Smith, defensive tackles coach Jerome Riase and running backs coach Patrick Doherty.

The Bulldogs will begin fall camp for the 2013 season in August, with the season-opener set for August 31 at South Dakota State.  Butler will play a 12-game, regular season schedule for the first time in school history.
