INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler will close out four weeks of spring football practice with the annual Blue-White Spring Game on Saturday, March 29.  The intersquad game will kickoff at 2 p.m., at the Butler Bowl, and admission is free.

The Spring Game will be played between Butler's offensive (White Team) and defensive (Blue Team) units, and will employ a special scoring system.  The offensive unit will receive points for touchdowns, extra points, field goals, first downs, long passing plays, long running plays and fourth down conversions.  The defensive squad will score points with take-aways, defensive touchdowns/PATs, blocked/missed PATs, defensive stops, sacks, tackles for loss and fourth down stops.

The Bulldogs are coming off a championship season that included a 9-4 final record, a co-title in the Pioneer Football League and a first-ever berth in the NCAA Division I Football Playoffs.  The nine wins tied the second-highest total in school history, while the team's seven PFL victories matched Butler's school record for PFL wins.  The league championship was Butler's third in five years.

Head coach Jeff Voris is looking to a number of returning veterans to form the nucleus for next year's squad.  Among the returning players are All-PFL performers David Tiwari (OL), Michael Demos (OL), Kyle Annis (DL), Glen Somers (DL), Jon Treloar (PK) and Marquese Martin-Hayes (RS).  Also on hand from last fall are defensive back David Burke, who led the team in tackles, and running back Rico Watson, who finished third on the squad in rushing and fifth in scoring in 2013.

Voris has a total of 37 letterwinners participating in spring drills.

The Blue-White Game will be the final of 15 spring practices for the Bulldogs.

Butler will begin fall practice in August in preparation for the team's 2014 season-opener at Wittenberg on September 6.  The Bulldogs will play the first of five home games against Taylor on Saturday, Sept. 13. at 6 p.m.
