Butler Men’s Golf Earns Academic Honor
The Butler men’s golf team has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America for outstanding academic performance in 2010-11. The Bulldogs were one of six teams in the NCAA Division I to receive President’s Special Recognition from the GCAA for compiling a team grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Ryan Wegeng Leads Butler At League Tournament
Senior Ryan Wegeng put together three solid rounds at posted a “Top 10” individual finish to lead Butler at the 2011 Horizon League Men’s Golf Championship, held in Florida. The 54-hole tournament at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort concluded on Sunday (April 24).

Butler Places 14th At Yestingsmeier Invitational
Butler posted its best round on the final day of the 54-hole Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, but it wasn’t enough to climb in the final standings of the golf tournament, which wrapped up at Delaware Country Club on Sunday (April 17). The Bulldogs wound up placing 14th in the Ball State-hosted event.

Butler Finishes Tenth At Hoosier Invitational
Senior Ryan Wegeng claimed a “Top 10” individual place and helped lead Butler to a 10th place team finish at the adidas Hoosier Invitational, which concluded at the Indiana University Golf Course on Sunday, April 10. Host Indiana won the 15-team meet.

Bulldogs Win Men's Big Four Classic
Sophomore Alex Walker tied for medalist honors and Butler swept the next four individual spots to grab the team title at the Big Four Classic on Thursday, April 7. The annual four-team event was held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel.

Alex Walker posted a second round tally of 75 to highlight the Butler men's golf team's performance at the Butler Spring Invitational at Prestwick Country Club in Avon. The Bulldogs finished 10th of 13 teams.

Ryan Wegeng Closes Strong Week In Florida
Senior Ryan Wegeng wrapped up a solid, week-long trip to Florida with a tie for sixth place at the four-team competition hosted by Butler at Windsor Park Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday and Thursday (March 16-17). The Bulldogs finished fourth in the team competition.

Senior Ryan Wegeng shot a four-over-par 146 and posted a “Top 10” individual finish to lead Butler in the 36-hole Don Benbow Invitational, which concluded at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on Tuesday, March 15. The Bulldogs finished ninth in the team competition.

Butler Splits Golf Dual Matches In Florida
Junior Michele Nash led all scorers and paced the Butler women’s golf team to a victory over Cleveland State in a spring match played in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday (March 12). The win gave Butler a split in its men’s/women’s dual matches against the Vikings.

Butler Finishes 12th At Kiawah Island Intercollegiate
Sophomore Andrew Wegeng carded a team-best, 54-hole total of 233 and Butler placed 12th in the team competition at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, which wrapped up at Turtle Point Golf Course on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Indiana won the 14-team event in South Carolina.

Sophomore Andrew Wegeng posted a “Top 15” individual finish and Butler tied for sixth in the team race at the Dayton Flyer Invitational held at the NCR South Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 18-19). Evansville won the 13-team meet.

Bulldogs Finish Third At Butler Invitational
Three Bulldogs placed among the Top 15 individuals and Butler finished third in the team competition at the 54-hole Butler Fall Invitational mens golf tournament, which wrapped up at Eagle Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Evansville claimed the team title with a sizzling, 10-under-par 242.

Butler Places 12th At John Piper Intercollegiate
Sophomore Andrew Wegeng tied for 30th in the individual competition and Butler finished 12th in the team race at the weather-shortened John Piper Intercollegiate Tournament in Bowling Green, Ohio. The final round of the 54-hole tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club was cancelled because of rain on Tuesday (Sept. 28).

Bulldogs Finish 12th At Fairway Club Invitational
Butler carded its best round on the final day of the tournament, but still slipped in the team standings at the Fairway Club Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday (Sept. 14). The Bulldogs, who entered the final round in a tie for 10th place, wound up finishing 12th.

The Butler mens golf team was one of 10 Division I squads honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America with Presidents Special Recognition status for performance in the classroom. The special honor was part of the GCAAs All-Academic Team recognition program.
