Butler Finishes Second At Florida Tournament
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Sophomore Logan Holt carded the second-best round of the final day and helped lead Butler to a second place team finish at the eight-team Bulldog Florida Invitational. The two-day tournament at Windsor Parke Golf Course concluded on Thursday (March 14).
Holt, tied for ninth heading into the final round after shooting an opening day 78, rallied over the final 18 holes and carded a three-over-par 75. Only tournament medalist, Francis Berthiaume of Alabama State, who shot a final round 74, had a better closing score. Holt's 36-hole total of 153 placed him in a tie for second place with Dan Wert of IPFW, seven strokes behind Berthiaume.
Senior Andrew Wegeng shot a 77 in the opening round, before closing with an 81 to finish in a tie for ninth place at 158. Freshman Brigham Stewart tied for 19th with rounds of 79 and 85 (164), while freshman Corbin Sellers came in one stroke back in a tie for 22nd place after carding rounds of 84 and 81. Senior Matt Vitale closed out Butler's scoring unit in 31st place with rounds of 92 and 77 (169).
Senior Colin Reenan, playing as a non-scoring individual, wound up in a tie for 26th place with rounds of 80 and 87 (168), and sophomore Andrew Eiler, also playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 28th place with rounds of 86 and 82 (168).
Alabama State took the team crown with a 36-hole score of 618. The Hornets grabbed control of the tournament with a team score of 308 on the first day, before finishing with a 310. Butler posted rounds of 318 and 314 for a total score of 632.
Butler's next action will be at the Butler Spring Invitational in Avon, Ind., March 25-26.
