Butler Wins Big Four Classic
CARMEL, IND. -- Senior Andrew Wegeng claimed medalist honors and Butler grabbed the team title at the Big Four Classic on Thursday, April 11. The annual competition between Butler, Wabash, Hanover and DePauw was held at Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Wegeng shot a two-over-par 74 to pace the 25-player field. He shot a 34 on the front nine and then closed with a 40 for his winning total. Teammate Andrew Eiler tied with Robert Bader of Hanover for second place, three strokes back.
Butler, which posted a winning team score of 312, had three other golfers finish among the top eight individuals in the meet. Matt Vitale, playing as a non-scoring individual, came in sixth in a 79, while Brigham Stewart placed seventh with an 80. Logan Holt tied for eighth place with an 81.
Colin Reenan came in 11th overall with an 82, while Corbin Sellers tied for 14th with an 84.
The Bulldogs finished 13 strokes ahead of runner-up Wabash. Hanover came in third and DePauw finished fourth.
Butler will be back in action on Monday, April 15, at the UE/Butler Challenge in Jasper.
