Butler Finishes 11th At A-10 Championship
CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. -- Senior Andrew Wegeng shot a three-over-par 75 in the final round to take team individual honors on the final day of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Golf Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The Bulldogs placed 11th in the conference meet, which wrapped up on Sunday (April 28).
Wegeng, who followed an opening round 76 with an even-par 72 in the second round of the 54-hole tournament, finished with a three-round total of 223 to tie for 34th overall in the final individual standings. He finished one stroke ahead of senior teammate Colin Reenan, who tied for 37th place with rounds of 74, 71 and 79 (224).
Sophomore Andrew Eiler came in 44th in the tournament with rounds of 75, 77 and 74 (226), while freshman Logan Holt finished 58th with rounds of 78, 80 and 79 (237). Freshman Brigham Stewart posted rounds of 75, 89 and 76 (240) and tied for 61st place.
The Bulldogs shot team scores of 300 in each of the first two rounds, before posting a 304 in the final round for a three-day total of 904. Charlotte claimed the team title with a final score of minus-20 844, eight strokes ahead of runner-up VCU. Raoul Menard of Charlotte captured medalist honors with a three-round score of minus-nine 207.
