Bulldogs Place 12th At Cleveland State Invitational

AURORA, OHIO -- Butler carded a final round score of 301 and wound up placing 12th in the 54-hole Cleveland State Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday (Oct. 1).  The Bulldogs shot a three-round score of 921 in the tournament held at Barrington Country Club in Aurora, Ohio.

Junior Andrew Eiler paced Butler with a 54-hole score of 229.  He shot a three-over-par 75 in the opening round, posted a 79 in the second round and finished with another 75 to tie for 47th place in the final individual standings.  Junior Logan Holt came in one stroke back with rounds of 80, 74 and 76.  He tied for 50th.

Freshman Iain Ferlmann, playing in his second collegiate tournament, tied for 58th with a three-round score of 233.  He opened with an 86 and then came back with a one-over-par 73, Butler's best single round of the tournament.  The first-year player finished with a two-over-par 74 in the final round.

Senior Matt Vitale placed 66th with rounds of 80, 76 and 80 (236), while freshman Connor Dudley tied for 68th with rounds of 85, 77 and 76 (238).  Sophomore Logan McBride, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied for 76th with rounds of 85, 83 and 78 (246).

Cincinnati claimed the team tournament title with a 54-hole score of 835, while host Cleveland State finished runner-up with a team score of 863.  Nick Dennis of Loyola captured medalist honors with a final score of 206.  He shot a one-under-par 71 in the opening round, a six-under-par 66 in the second round and a three-under-par 69 in the final round!

The Butler men will be back in action at the Butler Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8.
