Butler Places Third At Home Invitational
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Butler's men put together two consistent rounds and wound up finishing third at the 2013 Butler Fall Invitational, which concluded at Highland Country Club on Tuesday (Oct. 8). Bradley claimed the team title in the 36-hole meet.
Junior Andrew Eiler used a strong start to notch a "Top 10" individual finish for the Bulldogs. He opened with a one-under-par 69 on Monday and then finished with a 75 for a two-day score of four-over-par 144. That total was good for a tie for ninth place in the tournament.
Senior Matt Vitale came in one stroke back, after shooting rounds of 73 and 72. He wound up tied for 11th. Junior Logan Holt tied for 20th with freshman Connor Dudley. Holt shot rounds of 77 and one-over-par 71 (148), while Dudley posted back-to-back rounds of 74. Freshman Iain Ferlmann came in 36th and rounded out Butler's scoring team with rounds of 78 and 82 (160).
Sophomore Logan McBride, playing as a non-scoring individual, turned in the Bulldogs' best performance of the tournament with rounds of 72 and three-under-par 67. His two-day total of 139 was good for a tie for second place.
Also playing as non-scoring individuals for the Bulldogs were sophomore Brigham Stewart and freshman Joey Arcuri. Stewart tied for 25th place with rounds of 73 and 77 (150), while Arcuri came in 35th with scores of 75 and 84 (159).
Butler shot a team score of 293 in the first round and then shave one stroke off that total in the second round for a 36-hole total of 585. Bradley's winning score was 571.
The Butler men will head to the Dayton Invitational, Oct. 14-15, for their final fall competition.
