Boris Gatzky Named Horizon League Player of the Week
Butler senior Boris Gatzky, who helped the
Bulldogs to a pair of road wins including an upset of #14 Indiana,
has been named Horizon League Player of the Week for the period
Oct. 5-11 He’s the first Butler player honored with the
league’s weekly award this season.
Gatzky, a forward from Reutlingen, Germany, led the Bulldogs
sparked Butler’s wins at Indiana and Valparaiso, both coming
by the identical score of 2-1. He has assists on both Butler
goals against Indiana, helping the Bulldogs to their first victory
over the Hoosiers since 1995.
The Butler scoring leader then tallied Butler’s first goal
at Valparaiso, before picking up an assist on the game-winning goal
just three minutes later. The victory over the Crusaders
lifted Butler to 8-1-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in the Horizon
League.
The three assists on the week gave Gatzky 16 for his Butler
career, and moved him into a tie for eighth place on the
Bulldogs’ all-time assist chart.
Gatzky currently ranks second in the Horizon League in scoring
(1.10 points per game) and sixth in the league in both goals (0.40)
and assists (0.30).
The Bulldogs will step out of league play this week with just a single match at crosstown rival IUPUI. The match between the two Indianapolis teams will be played at Kuntz Stadium, starting at 7 p.m.
