Butler Faces Challenging 2011 Men’s Soccer Schedule
Matches against five teams from the 2010 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship, including a date with national runner-up Louisville, highlight the 2011 Butler men’s soccer schedule. The Bulldogs, under first-year head coach Paul Snape, will play an 18-match slate including six contests at the Butler Bowl.

The time and site of Butler’s spring men’s soccer match against Cincinnati on Saturday, April 16, has been changed. Paul Snape, who helped lead the University of Michigan to the 2010 NCAA Division I College Cup Final Four, has been named men’s soccer head coach at Butler University. The former Michigan Associate Head Coach fills the spot vacated by Kelly Findley, who left Butler to become head coach at North Carolina State.

Butler senior men’s soccer standout Ben Sippola capped an honor-filled season by being selected in the Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft by the Columbus Crew on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The Butler midfielder was the No. 30 pick by the Ohio team.

Jeff Ricondo scored from 20 yards out with just over five minutes remaining in the contest to lift Michigan State to a 1-0 victory over #5 Butler in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament at the Butler Bowl on Sunday, Nov. 21. The loss was Butler’s first this season and gave the Bulldogs a 16-1-3 final record.

The two were among 11 players named to the national honor squad’s first team.

The league-champion Bulldogs had eight total players honored on the All-League team.

Butler Players Headed To Youth Soccer Nationals
Butler sophomore Tyler Pollock and incoming freshmen Adam Glanzer, Ade Oluyedun and Joel Zimmerly have earned the opportunity to play for a national title at the U. S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas, July 20-25. The four helped their club teams capture Region II championships on June 30.
