INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler will face another strong men's soccer schedule in 2014, including six NCAA Tournament teams, several in-state rivals and one in-season tournament.  The Bulldogs will play 18 regular season matches and two exhibition contests prior to the 2014 BIG EAST Championship.

Five of the six NCAA Tournament teams on Butler's schedule are conference foes, and three will be visiting the Butler Bowl.  The Bulldogs will host NCAA "Sweet 16" teams Georgetown (Sept. 27) and defending BIG EAST champ Marquette (Oct. 15), plus Providence (Nov. 1).  Butler's road games against NCAA Tournament teams will be at in-state foe Indiana (Sept. 17) and conference opponents St. John's (Oct. 4) and Creighton (Oct. 11).

"Our 2014 schedule is going to be another challenging one. We have scheduled four talented in-state teams, and five tricky non-conference opponents. The remaining nine games on our schedule are all Big East contests," said Butler men's soccer coach Paul Snape.  "As we found out last season, every Big East match is a tightly fought contest…there are no easy games! Our team is definitely talented and experienced enough to deal with this schedule. We can't wait for preseason to begin!"

Butler will meet Dayton (Aug. 17) and Indianapolis (Aug. 22) in a pair of exhibition matches at the Butler Bowl before opening the regular season at the Ohio State Buckeye Tournament, Aug. 29-31.  The Bulldogs will face Canisius in the opening game of the tournament, before taking on host Ohio State in the final round.

The Bulldogs will play the first of eight regular season home matches on Sept. 3 against crosstown foe IUPUI.  Other non-conference opponents coming to the Butler Bowl will be Loyola (Sept. 20) and state foes Valparaiso (Sept. 9) and Evansville (Sept. 24).  Seton Hall (Oct. 29) joins Georgetown, Marquette and Providence among BIG EAST teams visting Indianapolis.

Butler's 2014 road schedule includes non-conference opponents Southern Illinois Edwardsville (Sept. 6) and Western Michigan (Sept. 12) and BIG EAST foes DePaul (Oct. 18), Villanova (Oct. 25) and Xavier (Nov. 7), in addition to the three NCAA Tournament teams.

Butler is heading into its second season in the powerful BIG EAST, a conference that sent five teams to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship last fall.  The 2014 BIG East Tournament will begin on Nov. 11, with the conference semifinals and finals slated for Nov. 14 & 16.

A Fall Olympic Sports Pass will also be available this season allowing Bulldog fans to attend men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball games for one low rate. For contact information and additional details on the pass please Click Here.
