July 24, 2007

There will be 15 new faces on hand when Butler University begins preseason practice for the 2007 men's soccer season. The Bulldogs, who announced 11 men's soccer recruits in March, wrapped up their 2007 recruiting with the addition of four more players for the upcoming season.

Set to join the Bulldogs this season are forward Boris Gatzky and goalkeeper Fabian Knoepfler, both of Reutlingen, Germany, forward Dustin Mares of Mishawaka, and midfielder Matt Sall of Greenwood. The four will join previously-announced recruits Troy Blewitt of Carmel, Connor Burt of Elkhart, Jacob Capito of Fort Wayne, Galen Cassady of Bloomington, Michael Clayton of Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Frank of Racine, Wis., Brett Heinz of Leawood, Kan., Kyle Pateros of Janesville, Wis., Nick Powell of Madison, Wis., Randy Richter of Elmhurst, Ill., and Ben Sippola of Northfield, Minn.

Gatzky is a transfer from Gardner Webb University, while Knoepfler is transferring from Reutlingen University. Mares, who attended Mishawaka High School, and Sall, from Center Grove High School, both are true freshmen.

"We are really excited about these players and feel they will make an immediate impact on our team," said Butler Recruiting Coordinator David Costa. "They will add much needed experience to a very young but talented group of players."
