WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Ben Raynauld and junior Brandon Bayliss each went 2-0 in singles play to advance to the semifinals in their respective flights Saturday at Purdue fall invitational. Sophomore Stephen McLoughlin and freshman Andrew Bayliss will play in the consolation finals Sunday after rallying for afternoon victories.
Raynauld, playing in the A flight, cruised to straight-sets victory in each of his matches. He started the day with a win over Marquette's J.G. Crowley and then defeated Purdue's Paul Foley in his second contest. Brandon Bayliss received a bye in the first round of the B flight before rallying for a come-from-behind win over Marquette's Jose Munoz. After dropping the first set, Bayliss rallied 6-4 in the second set and 10-4 in a third-set tie-breaker.
Junior Chris Herron and sophomore Zach Ervin found success in doubles play, winning their first match, 8-4 before losing in a tie-breaker in the quarterfinal. Raynauld and junior Bryce Warren are in the doubles consolation semifinal after winning their second match of the day, 8-4.
Play at Purdue resumes Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
