Sophomore Billy Weldon was voted second team All-Atlantic 10 Conference. The voting was done by the league's head men's tennis coaches.
Weldon, a native of Columbus, Ohio, led Butler with a 21-11 singles record. He posted a 6-3 record at No. 5 singles this season and was 4-1 at No. 4 singles. Weldon, at one point this season, won eight straight matches and finished 11-3 in his last 14 contests.
Weldon also played No. 1 doubles with classmate Austin Woldmoe for the second straight year. The sophomore duo led the team with 15 doubles victories.
With Weldon's help and with new coach Parker Ross, the Bulldogs improved from four wins to 10. Butler won its first round match in the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship over No. 8 seed Saint Joseph's 4-3.
Weldon and the Bulldogs will return their entire team next season, when Butler will be competing in the Big East Conference.
