The Butler men's tennis team will be the No. 9 seed this weekend when it competes in its first and final Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship in Mason, Ohio.
The Bulldogs (9-12) will take on No. 8 seed Saint Joseph's Thursday, April 25 beginning at noon. SJU is 10-11 overall, but enters on a two-match losing streak. The Bulldogs and Hawks have one common opponent, Dayton. Butler defeated Dayton 5-2 on Feb. 22 and Saint Joseph's beat UD 4-3 on March 23.
Butler is led by Billy Weldon, who boasts a 20-10 singles record playing mainly at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Weldon and his doubles partner, Austin Woldmoe, lead the team with 14 doubles wins.
Thursday's Butler-Saint Joseph's winner will take on No. 1 seed VCU Friday morning at 10 a.m. VCU is currently ranked 30th in the nation.
