NEW CASTLE, Ind. - Two former women's basketball players from the Class of 1990, Shelley (Roby) Foister and Erika (McCoy) Robinson, have been tabbed for the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2011 Silver Anniversary Team. The honor was given to 18 women who made outstanding accomplishments as a high school senior 25 years ago.
Foister, a Tipton, Ind., native, (pictured at right) played at Butler as Shelley Roby from 1986-90. She finished her BU career in the school's top eight in scoring and rebounding when she graduated. A Dean's List student at Butler, Foister set single-game marks for free throws made and percentage (13-for-13, 1.000). She scored 907 points and pulled in 481 rebounds during her Bulldog career, helping the team to 53 wins. Foister also played volleyball at Butler.
Robinson, a Seymour, Ind., native, (pictured below) played at Butler as Erika McCoy also from 1986-90. She played in 108 games as a Bulldog, making 40 starts. She finished her career at BU with 636 points and 538 rebounds.
Both standout alumnae were all-state honorees as high school seniors in 1986. Shelley Roby averaged 14.9 points and 10.0 rebounds as a senior at Tipton and was named MVP of the 1985 Hall of Fame Classic. Erica McCoy posted 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in 1986 at Seymour and set records for scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. McCoy was on the 1986 Indiana All-Star team.
