The Butler women's basketball team will play in the WNIT for the fourth time in five years when it travels to take on MAC regular season champion Toledo Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (17-13) placed sixth in the Atlantic 10 Conference this season, and will join league mates Charlotte, Fordham, Duquesne and Richmond in the WNIT.
Toledo posted a record of 27-3 in the regular season but lost to Central Michigan in the semifinal of the MAC tourney. The Rockets are led by Naama Shafir, who average 12.7 points per game. Toledo played three A-10 teams this season, losing to Dayton but beating Charlotte and St. Bonaventure.
Butler also played in the WNIT for three straight seasons from 2009-11. The Dawgs won their first round game at Duquesne in 2009.
If the Bulldogs advance past Toledo, they'll play the winner of Indiana State and Youngstown State. Butler already defeated ISU earlier this season.
