After another WNIT appearance and the program's seventh winning season in eight years, Butler women's basketball held its annual awards banquet on Monday night.
Head coach Beth Couture handed out varsity awards to the team's participants and also honored the team's award winners. Daress McClung, the team's leading scorer and rebounder, received her All-Atlantic 10 award as well as notice for twice being named league player of the week. She was also voted Team MVP by her teammates.
In addition to McClung receiving the team's MVP award, Raker and Lexus Murry were recognized as the team's most improved players and McDivitt received the team's award for defense. Couture's Bulldog Award went to Bornhorst, the team's only senior. She was honored for her leadership and unselfishness in addition to her years of contributions on the court.
Couture also named her team's captains for the upcoming 2013-14 season, the program's first competing in the Big East Conference. The team's 2014 seniors, McClung, McDivitt and Sarah Hamm, will serve as team captains.
