Stratman Named BIG EAST Player of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS – Butler center Liz Stratman was honored as the BIG EAST Player of the Week for her outstanding performances in the 2013 Las Vegas Thanksgiving Shootout. The conference office announced the decision on Monday, Dec. 2.
Stratman averaged 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of victories during the Las Vegas Thanksgiving Shootout. The junior shot 18-of-28 (.640) from the floor for the two games. Stratman posted 21 points and eight rebounds in a 66-54 win over Utah. In a 74-51 victory against Eastern Washington, she scored 25 points in 20 minutes.
Stratman was selected to the Thanksgiving Shootout All-Tournament Team after Saturday night's game against Eastern Washington. For the season, Stratman is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game and 6.0 rebounds. She is shooting 63 percent from the floor and also leads the team in blocked shots with 14.
The Bulldogs will return to action with a game vs. UIC on Saturday, Dec. 7. The game will be part one of a doubleheader as the men's team also plays Saturday. Butler will host UIC at 12 p.m. The men's game vs. North Dakota will begin at 6 p.m.
