Matt Howard, Michele Nash Tabbed Butler’s Top Athletes
Matt Howard, who ended his collegiate career in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball championship game, and Michele Nash, who helped the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship berth, have been named recipients of Butler’s Most Outstanding Athlete Award for 2010-11. The two were among four student-athletes recognized by the Butler athletic department with year-ending awards.

Butler Season Ends At NCAA Regional
Butler’s championship women’s golf season came to an end when the lightening-delayed final round of the NCAA Central Regional at Notre Dame’s Warren Golf Course was completed late on Saturday, May 6. The Bulldogs were not among the eight teams that advanced to the national tournament in Texas.

Nash Tied For Third At NCAA Regional
Butler's Michele Nash, who shot an even-par 72, is tied for third place in the individual standings after the first round of the NCAA Central Regional women's golf tournament being held at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course. The 54-hole tournament will continue on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7.

Michele Nash Named Horizon League Player of the Year
Butler junior Michele Nash, who helped led Butler to its fifth Horizon League women’s golf title in seven years, has been named 2011 Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Year. She’s the third Butler women’s golfer to win the league’s top individual honor.

Bulldogs Will Begin NCAA Bid At Notre Dame
Butler will begin its first NCAA Women’s Golf Championship bid in its home state. The Bulldogs were selected by the Division I Women’s Golf Committee to participate in the Central Regional, which will be hosted by Notre Dame at Warren Golf Course, May 5-7.

Butler Captures Horizon League Championship
Junior Michele Nash captured medalist honors and led Butler to the team title at the 2011 Horizon League Women’s Golf Championship, which concluded at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort on Sunday (April 24). The championship was Butler’s fifth in the past seven years.

Junior Michele Nash led all scorers and paced the Butler women’s golf team to a victory over Cleveland State in a spring match played in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday (March 12). The win gave Butler a split in its men’s/women’s dual matches against the Vikings.

Sophomore Julia Porter, who helped lead Butler to a runner-up finish at the 2011 Ann Rhoads Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., has been named Horizon League Golfer of the Week for the period of Feb. 22-28.

Sophomore Julia Porter finished second in the individual competition and helped lead Butler to a runner-up finish in the team race at the 2011 Ann Rhoads Invitational, which concluded at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course on Monday, Feb. 28. West Florida came from behind in the final round to edge the Bulldogs for the title.

Butler Signs Two Women Golfers
Butler golf coach Bill Mattingly wrapped up his fall women’s golf recruiting with the addition of two promising Wisconsin golfers. Isabella Lambert of Catholic Memorial High School in Big Bend, Wis., and Jenna Peters of Kohler, Wis., High School both signed letters of intent to join the Bulldogs next fall.

Junior Clare Cornelius posted a “Top 10” individual finish and Butler wound up tied for eighth in the team competition at the weather-shortened Memphis Women’s Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday (Oct. 26). Illinois captured championship in the 18-team event held at Ridgeway Country Club.

Junior Michele Nash captured medalist honors and led the Butler women’s golf team to the team title at the 2010 University of Dayton Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The Bulldogs finished with a 36-hole team score of 600, 19 strokes better than runner-up Detroit.

Michele Nash Ties For Second At State Amateur
Butler golfer Michele Nash posted a 54-hole score of even-par 216 and tied for second place in the Indiana Womens Golf Association State Amateur Championship, which concluded at Anderson Country Club on Wednesday, July 14. She was one of five Butler golfers competing in the three-day state tournament.
