Bulldogs Place Sixth At 2012 Preview
NASHPORT, OHIO -- Butler improved by seven strokes in the final round, but slipped one spot in the final team standings at the conclusion of the 2012 Fall Preview on Tuesday (Oct. 16). The Bulldogs wound up placing sixth in the 15-team tournament at Longaberger Golf Club.
Butler shot a team score of 321 in the opening round and was tied with Toledo for fifth place heading into the final 18 holes. Paced by sophomore Jenna Peters and junior Ali Restaino, the Bulldogs responded with a 314 in the final round. But Toledo carded a 306 and climbed to fourth place in the final standings.
Peters followed an opening round 80 with a 76 on the final day and wound up 12th in the final standings with a two-day total of 156. She missed a tie for eighth place by just two strokes.
Teammate Julia Porter finished one stroke back after shooting rounds of 80 and 77 and tied for 13th in the final standings.
Restaino, who also shot a 76 in the final round, and sophomore Isabella Lambert tied for 32nd with 36-hole scores of 161. Restaino posted an 85 in the opening round, while Lambert had a team-best 76 on the first day and an 85 in the final round.
Freshman Nicole Johnson closed out Butler's five-player team with rounds of 87 and 85 (172) and a tie for 75th place.
Ball State captured the team title with a 36-hole score of 621, while Bowling Green finished runner-up with a 624.
The Bulldogs will close out their fall schedule at the Evansville Invitational on Oct. 29-30.
