Bulldogs Finish Fifth At Evansville Invitational
BOONVILLE, IND. -- Sophomore Isabella Lambert posted a "Top 10" individual finish and Butler finished fifth in the team competition at the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate, which wrapped up at Quail Crossing Golf Club on Tuesday (Oct. 30). The 11-team meet was Butler's final fall competition.
Lambert, who shot a 72 in the opening round and led the tournament after the first day, carded an 82 in the final round and wound up in a three-way tie for third with Cathy Doyle of Evansville and Rachel Walker of Eastern Kentucky. All three posted a 36-hole score of 154, six strokes behind medalist Alex Zenor of team champ Northern Iowa.
Sophomore Jenna Peters came in second for the Bulldogs and tied for 16th overall with rounds of 83 and 76 (159), while junior Ali Restaino tied for 28th with rounds of 84 and 79 (163). Senior Julia Porter, with rounds of 87 and 80 (167), freshman Nicole Johnson, who carded rounds of 86 and 81 (167), and senior Ali Arends, who had rounds of 89 and 78 (167) while playing as a non-scoring individual, all tied for 40th in the tournament.
Butler posted a team score of 325 in the first round and then shaved nine strokes off that total in the second round for a two-day total of 641. Northern Iowa claimed the team trophy with a 36-hole score of 625, two strokes better than runner-up Indiana State. Eastern Kentucky (631) finished third and Southern Illinois (632) finished fourth.
