Butler Finishes Fourth At Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Sophomores Jenna Peters and Isabella Lambert finished among the "Top 5" individuals, while leading Butler to a fourth place team finish at the Don Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.  Butler hosted the two-day, 10-team tournament at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course.

Peters had the individual lead heading into the final round on Tuesday (March 12), after shooting an opening round, three-over-par 75.  She closed with an 80 and wound up in a three-way tie for first with Lauren Kuss of IUPUI and  Rumbidzai Masamvu of Appalachian State at 11-over-par 155.  Masamvu captured medalist honors in a playoff.

Lambert finished three strokes back in a tie for fifth place.  The second-year Butler golfer shot an 82 in the first round and then came back with a team-best 76 on the final day.

Junior Ali Restaino placed third for the Bulldogs and tied for 24th overall with rounds of 86 and 82 (168), while senior Julia Porter came in one stroke back in 27th place after shooting rounds of 89 and 80.  Freshman Nicole Johnson rounded out Butler's scoring squad in a tie for 52nd place with back-to-back rounds of 93 (186).

Senior Ali Arends, playing as a non-scoring individual, finished 42nd in the final individual standings with rounds of 92 and 85 (177).

IUPUI claimed the team crown with a 36-hole score of 637, while Cleveland State and Appalachian State tied for second at 645.  Butler was five strokes back in fourth place.
