Bulldogs Finish Runner-Up In the Butler Invitational
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Juniors Jenna Peters and Isabella Lambert posted "Top 10" individual finishes and Butler held on to second place after the final round of the 2013 Butler Fall Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Purdue won the 10-team tournament held at Highland Country Club.
Peters shot an opening round three-over-par 73 to help the Bulldogs take over second place on the first day of the 36-hole tournament. She then closed with a 75 on Tuesday for a final score of eight-over-par 148 and a third place individual finish.
Lambert rebounded from a first round 81 with a final round 75 to finish with a 36-hole total of 156. She wound up ninth in the final individual standings.
Senior Ali Restaino posted rounds of 80 and 79 (159) and finished in a tie for 13th place, while freshman Megan McCambridge tied for 16th with rounds of 78 and 82 (160). Sophomore Nicole Johnson rounded out Butler's scoring squad with a tie for 34th place. She shot a first round 84 and then closed with an 85 for a two-day score of 169.
Freshman Christine Cates, playing as a non-scoring individual, came in 29th with rounds of 81 and 84 (165). Other Butler individuals were sophomore Amy Lundstram (Tied-55th, 89-93-182), junior JoEllen Gentry (Tied-55th, 93-89-182), freshman Brooke McGarry (Tied-57th, 93-91-185) and freshman Annika London (62nd, 96-101-197).
Purdue grabbed the lead in the team race by shooting a 296 in the opening round and then held the top spot with a 299 in the final round. Aurora Kan led the Boilermakers and claimed medalist honors with back-to-back rounds of one-over-par 71.
Butler shot a team score of 312 on the first day and then improved that total by one stroke on the final day.
The Bulldogs will close out their fall schedule at the Evansville Invitational, Oct. 28-29.
