Butler Finishes Fifth At Florida Tournament
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FLA. -- Butler wrapped up the Bulldog Florida Invitational at Windsor Parke Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla., with a fifth place team finish on Thursday, March 13. The Bulldogs finished their Spring Break trip to Florida with a pair of fifth place tournament finishes.
Junior Jenna Peters narrowly missed a second consecutive "Top 5" individual finish. She carded an 84 in the opening round on Wednesday, March 12, and then closed with an 81 for a 36-hole total of 165 and a tie for seventh place in the final individual standings. Peters tied for fifth at the Benbow Invitational earlier in the week.
Junior Isabella Lambert finished second for the Bulldogs and tied for 11th overall with rounds of 89 and 80 (169), while senior Ali Restaino tied for 16th after carding an 85 in the first round and then closing with an 86 for a two-day total of 169. Sophomore Nicole Johnson closed out Butler's scoring unit with a 36-hole total of 186 (89-97) and a tie for 40th.
Freshman Megan McCambridge carded a team-best 82 in the opening round, but was disqualified in the final round.
Butler had a team score of 340 on the first day, before finishing with a 344 for a final total of 684. IPFW, led by medalist Brenna Sherwood (80-76 156), won the 36-hole event with a score of 659, while Chicago State finished runner-up with a team score of 666. Youngstown State came in third at 671, followed by Western Illinois (673), Butler, Delaware State (689), U. S. Naval Academy (716), Eastern Illinois (722) and Savanna State (805).
The Bulldogs' next competition will be at the Butler Spring Invitational at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind., on Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25.
