Maccagnone Garners NSCAA First-Team Selection

INDIANAPOLIS - Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Sophia Maccagnone has been named first team All-Mid Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Maccagnone led the Bulldogs with 11 goals and 24 points this year en route to helping Butler to one of its most successful seasons in program history.

Butler finished fourth in its first season in the A-10 and enjoyed its highest conference winning percentage (.722) since 2002.

Maccagnone set the bar for most shots in a single season with 97, breaking Amy Morrison's previous school record of 96 set in 2002.

For her efforts this season, the Shelby Township, Mich., native earned A-10 first team all-conference and all-tournament honors, in addition to being named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week three times (Sept. 17, Sept. 24, and Oct. 8).

Maccagnone is joined on the All-Mid Atlantic squad by fellow A-10 players Courtney Niemiec of La Salle and Colleen Williams and Juliana Libertin of Dayton.
