Bulldogs Tie School Record For Wins
Butler's 2009 softball campaign ended two steps shy of the Horizon League Tournament championship game, but not before the Bulldogs put on a charge that landed the team in the Butler record book. The Bulldogs won 13 of their final 19 games, including three in the Horizon League Tournament. The final victory gave Butler a fourth place tournament finish and 26 wins for the year, matching the Butler single season record set in 1982 and tied in 2007. The Bulldogs also set a school record for Horizon League wins with 12, breaking the previous mark of 10 set in 1998. Butler, picked seventh in the preseason poll of league coaches, rebounded from a 6-16 start and wound up finishing fifth in the league regular season race.
