Bulldogs Drop Final Florida Game

Head Coach Scott Hall

KISSIMMEE, FLA. -- Junior righthander Brittany MacFawn pitched a complete-game, one-hitter and Albany stopped Butler's six-game winning streak with a 4-0 decision at the Rebel Games on Friday (March 15).  The game was Butler's final test in Florida.

MacFawn tossed her eighth complete game of the season to lead the Great Danes (6-7).  She had seven strikeouts and no walks over seven innings of work.  The Great Danes' ace retired eight of the first nine batters she faced, before allowing a two-out single to Butler's Krosley Ogden in the third inning.

Albany took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on Annie Johnson's two-run, home run off of Butler starter Taylor Lockwood.  The Great Danes added two more runs in the sixth inning.

Lockwood, who pitched two-and-a-third innings for the Bulldogs, took the loss.  Junior Leah Bry pitched the final three-and-two-thirds innings and allowed two runs on five hits.

Butler (8-12) finished the nine-game trip to Florida with a 6-3 record.  The Bulldogs will return to action at Ball State on Tuesday, March 19.
