Butler Sweeps Non-Conference Twinbill
Butler rode the strong arm of sophomore Kristin Gutierrez and the hot bat of junior Kristen Boros to an impressive sweep of Eastern Illinois in a non-conference doubleheader at Williams Field in Charleston, Ill., on Tuesday (April 22). The Bulldogs captured a pair of one-run wins, taking the opener, 1-0, and the nightcap, 6-5.

Bulldogs to Continue BIG EAST Road Trip
The Butler softball team will open up the week with a week-day double header at Eastern Illinois before taking on Seton Hall in the team’s third-straight BIG EAST road series. The games at Eastern Illinois will take place on Tuesday, April 22, beginning at 3 p.m. The Seton Hall series will begin on Saturday, April 26, will a double-header scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs and the Pirates will wrap up the series with a third game on Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m.

Bulldogs Blank Georgetown In Series Finale
Senior Callie Dennison and sophomore Kristin Gutierrez combined on a five-hit shutout to lead Butler to a 2-0 victory over host Georgetown in the final game of a three-game BIG EAST series on Saturday, April 19. The win gave the Bulldogs the series, 2-1.

Butler Splits Twinbill At Georgetown
Butler rebounded from a narrow, 6-5 extra-inning setback in the opening game of a BIG EAST doubleheader at Georgetown on Friday (April 18) and captured a 4-2 victory in the nightcap to earn a first day split. The two teams will wrap up the three-game conference series on Saturday, April 19.

The Butler softball team will play its second consecutive BIG EAST road series this weekend, taking on conference foe Georgetown. The series with the Hoyas (19-18, 7-5 BIG EAST) will begin on Friday, April 18, with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The final game will take place on Saturday, April 19, at 12 p.m.

Bulldogs Drop Pitchers’ Duel At Villanova
In a contest that featured two sterling pitching performances, host Villanova out-dueled Butler, 2-1, to take the final game of a three-game BIG EAST series on Sunday, April 13. The win gave the Wildcats the series’ edge, two games to one.

Butler scored five runs in the final inning of the second game against Villanova to pull out a 6-4 decision to earn a split in a BIG EAST doubleheader a Villanova Stadium on Saturday, April 12. The host Wildcats won the opener of the three-game conference series, 3-0.

Offensive Bulldogs Sweep Twinbill
Butler unleashed its biggest offensive output of the season and won both games of a non-conference doubleheader at Morehead State on Wednesday, April 9. The Bulldogs captured the opener of the twinbill at University Field, 11-6, and then completed the sweep with a 12-8 victory.

Bulldogs Win Conference Battle at Home
The Butler softball team held off a late surge from conference opponent Providence, securing a 4-3 victory in a BIG EAST matchup at the BU Softball Field on Sunday, April 6. The Bulldogs finished 2-1 in the weekend series with the Friars (3-19), splitting the first two games on Saturday, April 5. The victory brings the team to 14-21 on the season and 4-4 in conference.

Bulldogs and Providence Split Doubleheader
Butler held opposing hitters scoreless for a victory in the first game of a doubleheader with Providence (3-18) before falling behind early in a loss in the second contest at the BU Softball Field on Saturday, April 4. The Bulldogs won the first game 4-0, losing the afternoon game 7-2. Saturday’s split brings Butler to 13-21 on the season and 3-4 in the BIG EAST.

Bulldogs Win Series Finale In New York
Freshman Chelsea Norwood drove in three runs and scored a fourth and sophomore Kristin Gutierrez went the distance in the circle to lead Butler to a 10-3 victory over host St. John’s in the third game of a three-game BIG EAST series on Wednesday, April 2. The Bulldogs won two of the three games and improved to 12-20 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

Butler pulled out a come-from-behind victory in its first game of a doubleheader with St. John’s and then saw a lead slip away in a loss in the second contest at Red Storm Field on Tuesday, April 1. The Bulldogs rallied to take the opener, 4-2, before dropping the nightcap, 7-5.

Kristin Gutierrez Receives BIG EAST Honor
Butler sophomore Kristin Gutierrez, who was nearly perfect in her only pitching performance last week, has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. She’s the second Butler softball player to be honored by the conference this season.

Due to expected inclement weather, the start time of Butler's doubleheader at St. John's on Saturday, March 29, has been moved up to 10 a.m. The second game of the BIG EAST twinbill in Queens, N.Y., will start at approximately noon.

Travel issues that prevented Butler from reaching New York this weekend have forced the postponement of the Bulldogs' three-game BIG EAST softball series at St. John's, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday (March 29-30). The games have been rescheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, April 1-2, in Queens, N.Y.

The Bulldogs defeated visiting Northern Kentucky, 11-0 in five innings, in the opener and then completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory in the nightcap.

Butler pitcher Leah Bry Has Season-Ending Surgery
Butler senior Leah Bry, a four-year starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, underwent season-ending surgery on Monday, March 24. The procedure was done to repair a shoulder injury, which had plagued the right-hander through the early part of the 2014 campaign.

The final game of the three-game BIG EAST series between Butler and Creighton, scheduled for Sunday (March 23) at Butler, has been cancelled due to cold weather. There is no plan to reschedule the contest.

Creighton used two strong pitching performances and a power-packed offense to hand Butler a pair of setbacks in the opening BIG EAST doubleheader for both teams on Saturday, March 22. The visiting Blue Jays captured the opener, 6-0, and then completed the sweep with a 10-0 decision in six innings in the nightcap.

Visiting Ball State broke a scoreless deadlock with a three-run rally in the sixth inning and then held off Butler to post a 4-2 victory in a non-conference game on Wednesday, March 19. The setback dropped the Bulldogs to 8-17 on the season.

A strong pitching performance by sophomore Kristin Gutierrez and a sixth inning rally helped lift Butler to a 4-3 victory over visiting IUPUI in the Bulldogs’ first home game of 2014 on Tuesday, March 18. The Jaguars rebounded with a 7-2 victory in the second game.

Bulldogs Win Two Of Final Three Games In Florida
Sparked by an energized offense, Butler won two of its final three outings on the team’s Spring Break trip to Clearwater, Florida. The Bulldogs defeated Iona, 8-0 in five innings, and Boston, 7-0, while dropping a narrow 8-7 decision to Massachusetts in games played on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16.

Butler fell victim to two big innings and wound up dropping a pair of games in Clearwater, Fla., on Friday, March 14. The Bulldogs lost a 4-3 decision to LIU Brooklyn in the first game of the day at the Eddie Moore Complex and then fell to Yale, 4-2, in the second contest.

Sophomore Kristin Gutierrez tossed a complete game, four-hitter to lead Butler to a 3-1 victory over Penn at Eddie C. Moore Field in Clearwater, Fla., on Thursday, March 13. The game was the first of six that the Bulldogs will play in Florida over Spring Break.

Eastern Kentucky scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to capture a 6-3 decision over Butler and hand the Bulldogs their third loss at the Kentucky Invitational on Saturday (March 1). Earlier in the day, the Bulldogs dropped a narrow 6-4 decision to Pittsburgh.

Butler Softball Looks To First Season In The BIG EAST
Eight returning regulars and a handful of promising newcomers have fueled optimism in Butler softball program as the team prepares for its first season in the BIG EAST. Head coach Scott Hall begins his fourth season at Butler’s helm, after leading the Bulldogs to a seventh place finish in the Atlantic-10 Conference in 2013. Butler posted a 22-24 overall record last season, including an 11-9 mark in conference play.

Butler Adds Five Talented Recruits
The Butler softball team signed five talented recruits in preparation for the 2014-2015 season. Four of the recruits hail from the state of Indiana with the fifth from Illinois.

Butler Earns NFCA Academic Recognition
Eight Butler softball players earned individual recognition and the Bulldogs were honored as a team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for academic achievement. The eight players each were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, and Butler was tabbed as a 2012-13 All-Academic Team.

Riley Carter Selected To Canada National Team Pool
Butler shortstop Riley Carter was one of 41 athletes selected by Softball Canada to the 2013-14 Women’s National Team Athlete Pool. Athletes named to the Women’s National Team Pool are eligible to be invited to the Women’s National Team training camps and selection camps.
