Chelsea Norwood Honored By BIG EAST
INDIANAPOLIS—Butler freshman Chelsea Norwood, who had a big series at the plate against the league's best team, has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the final regular season week of the season. She's the seventh Butler softball player to be honored by the BIG EAST this season.
Norwood batted .500 (4-8) with two doubles and three runs batted in Butler's three-game series with BIG EAST champ DePaul. She compiled a .750 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage, while facing the league's best pitching lineup. Norwood drove in the game-winner in Butler's 4-2 victory over the Blue Demons, snapping DePaul's 20-game winning streak.
Butler was the only BIG EAST team to defeat DePaul this season.
Norwood joins teammates Callie Dennison, Krista Hakola, Kristen Gutierrez, Maria Leichty, Alex Kotter and Leah Bry, all of whom were previously named to the league's weekly Honor Roll. Bry and Gutierrez each earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors, while Hakola was named league Player of the Week.
Butler ended the regular season with a 24-28 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs tied for fourth in the final BIG EAST regular season standings.
