Hedrick Wins At No. 1 Singles

Junior Caroline Hedrick won a pair of three-set battles at No. 1 singles to lead the Butler women's tennis team during a weekend road trip to Bowling Green and Detroit. Butler lost both dual matches, 5-2 to Bowling Green and 6-1 to Detroit.
Hedrick, who had been playing No. 2 singles this season, moved up to the top of the lineup and scored two of Butler's three points in the two road matches. The Columbus, Ind., native won 1-6, 7-6, 10-2 against BGSU's Emily Reuland and followed that with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 victory over Detroit's Nino Sujashvili.
Hedrick also teamed with senior Brittany Farmer for a No. 1 doubles victory against Detroit. Hedrick and Farmer defeated Julia Fernandes and Nino Sujashvili 8-3.
Freshman Konstantina Adami also picked up a singles win over the weekend, beating Bowling Green's Mary Hill 6-3, 1-6, 10-3 at No. 4 singles.
Butler (3-14) will play at IUPUI Friday, March 22. The team has won more home match remaining, against UIC Sunday, March 24.
