KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Kailey Eaton, an incoming Butler women's tennis freshman, advanced to the back draw final in a recent ITA Summer Circuit Event at Western Michigan University.
After losing 6-4, 6-2 to Nebraska's Mary Hanna in the first round, Eaton went on a run in the back draw. The Fishers, Ind., native won four straight matches to reach the consolation final. She wound up losing Meika Ashby (Western Michigan) in a three-set tie-breaker 2-6, 6-1, 13-11.
During her win streak, she won three in straight sets before pulling out a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory over Lexi Rice (Grand Valley State).
Eaton was a four-year No. 1 singles player at Fishers High School. She was an all-state honoree and is one of three incoming recruits for second-year head coach Tayo Bailey.
