Gina's Volleyball Blog - 10-20-09

 Hello everyone. I apologize for skipping last week! It was crazy with the matches and amount of school work I had so I'll give you a recap. So last two weeks ago we had to play four matches in one week! Luckily, the Tuesday and Wednesday matches vs. Milwaukee and Green Bay were home at Hinkle. We won both of those matches in exciting fashion of course.

Then, we flew up to Chicago to play Loyola and UIC Friday morning. I had been looking forward to this weekend all season because it's home to me. My extended family was coming and I was excited to see other friends that I haven't seen in months. It was refreshing when we left the hotel each afternoon into 40 degree temperatures. I love the fall back home.

Other than seeing my friends and family, the weekend didn't go the way we wanted. But, we played and learned so we know what we can do to beat Loyola and UIC . Then, last week officially marked the end of the first half of conference schedule. We are in third place, holding strong and gunning to knock off the top two in the next half.

So, this past week was cold, but great. The weather is getting colder and colder, but the different colored leaves make the crisp air worth it. Campus is so pretty! This past Thursday and Friday was fall break so not many people were around to enjoy the weather. It felt like preseason again because it was mainly athletes here. But, it was a nice change of pace from running to class to practice to studying. So, I accomplished a lot of school work and looked forward to playing Youngstown Saturday. We came in well prepared and fully confident. We dominated and it felt awesome. Then, all of the girls enjoyed our Sunday day off to get back on track for the week of school and preparation ahead for this coming weekend in Ohio. We're leaving Friday afternoon for Wright State and Cleveland State. We're holding down third place in the HL right now, but after this weekend we will hopefully be in an even better position to host the HL Tournament.
