Hello! This past week was Homecoming week! It was so much fun with all the activities around campus. I had my normal class schedule during the mornings and practice each afternoon. We were prepping for our big Friday match vs. Valpo. We went in so prepared and ready to play but fell short. We play them at our house in four weeks so we know how to prepare even better this time around. We learned from it and had a few team meetings to raise our spirits and outlook on the rest of conference. And we went into our Saturday match vs. Alabama A&M with fire. It felt really great to play at home again in front of our fans, especially because we kicked off our Breast Cancer Awareness campaign for the month of October.
We wore our pink warm-ups and are selling pink t-shirts that say "Butler Volleyball, Can you Dig it?" It's such a great cause to be a part of so it was rewarding to win on our home court in honor of those women battling cancer.
Homecoming week was so fun! Aside from classes and practices, the Greek houses rallied in competition through the entire week. For example, on Wednesday there was Midnight Snack. Students lined up outside of Atherton at 10 pm waiting for the doors to open for free food. Everything from donuts, McDonalds, Qdoba, cookies, and ice cream was set out. Every one definitely had to fend for their safety because when food is free everyone goes crazy!
On Thursday, there was an event called "Yell Like Hell" where all the houses did a five minute dance and cheer to earn their team the most points towards winning the Homecoming title. It was hilarious to see all of these people dancing.
Then, Saturday was the football game, where our Bulldogs came from behind in the last two seconds of the game to win and the announcement of Homecoming King and Queen! My RA Betsy and the male RA Anthony pulled a huge upset to win because of their crazy campaigns.
Overall, it was a crazy week, but this week is going to be even busier because we play four matches in seven days! But I'm really looking forward to playing in Chicago!
Talk to you next week! Thanks for reading.
