Daprile And Wolfe Capture League Player Of The Week Honors

Katie Daprile Interview

INDIANAPOLIS - Butler volleyball seniors Jessica Wolfe and Katie Daprile were named Horizon League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The two seniors helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record in the season's final weekend.

The award marks the third time this season Wolfe has won the league's offensive honor, and fifth of her career. It is Daprile's first time winning the defensive award this season, and the second of her career.

Wolfe, an outside hitter from Plainfield, Ind., racked up 33 kills and 28 digs in the two victories. She had 12 kills in the win over YSU and then went for 21 kills and 20 digs against CSU.

"Being seniors, Katie and I have always had a special bond on the court and for us to be honored together after our Senior Day is very humbling and I appreciate it greatly," Wolfe said. "She's an incredible defender and I'm glad she was recognized for her amazing accomplishment."

Daprile, a libero from Bargersville, Ind., picked up 37 digs over the weekend. In the process, she became the Horizon League's all-time career digs leader with 1,943. The record was previously held by Milwaukee's Lauren Felsing (2006-09). Daprile had 11 digs in Butler's 70-minute, 3-0 win over Youngstown State, then she added 26 stops in BU's 3-1 win over Cleveland State.

"It was huge for us to stay rested and relaxed last weekend and focus on what we could do on our side of the court," Daprile said. "That was the biggest change we made. But we played together and played with energy and the knowledge that we are one of the best teams in the league."

Butler (19-9, 13-3 HL) clinched the No. 2 seed in this weekend's Horizon League Volleyball Championship. The Bulldogs will play Saturday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. ET. Milwaukee is the top seed and tourney host.
