Bulldog Volleyball Preps For Spring Schedule

BUTLER VOLLEYBALL SPRING SCHEDULE

The Butler volleyball team, the defending Horizon League champion, is set to play three dates in April.  The Bulldogs begin their first spring competition with a home tournament against IUPUI and Akron in Hinkle Fieldhouse on April 9.    First serve of the match is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. (EST) against cross-cross town foe IUPUI.  The Jaguars will then take on Akron at 9:45 a.m. The Bulldogs will wrap up the tournament with the last match of the day at 11 a.m. facing the Akron Zips. 

“We are definitely excited to face an opponent,” head coach Sharon Clark said. “The players have really been working hard in the weight room and also in training both individually and as a team.” 

Butler, a 21-10 team in 2010, returns four starters from last year's team. BU also will add a local standout in sophomore Chelsea Kirkpatrick, a graduate from nearby Center Grove High School. Kirkpatrick transferred to Butler in January from DePaul and will make her Bulldog debut in the spring season.

“We are definitely looking forward to seeing Chelsea join the team in more of a competitive setting. She will be a great addition to our squad,” Clark added.

The rest of the Bulldogs' spring schedule includes playing at UIndy Friday, April 15 at 4 p.m. The team will close out its spring schedule Thursday, April 21 at home against Ball State at 6 p.m.
