Bulldogs Cruise To Easy Win

PITTSBURGH - BU hit .330 and 12 players saw action as the Butler volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Howard on Friday evening. The Bulldogs have won three straight.

Junior Morgan Peterson passed 33 assists, 11 per set. Sophomore Kelly Kyle led the Dawgs with eight kills on .429 hitting. 

"We were very effective with our attack tonight," head coach Sharon Clark said. "We got a great effort from our bench tonight and strong showings from Maggie Harbison and Belle Obert."

The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-13 win in the first set. After Butler went up 7-2 to force a Howard timeout, the Bison closed to within 7-4. Howard wouldn't get any closer, as BU would pull away easily.

The second set was the closest of the night on the scoreboard, although Butler dominated and led comfortably throughout. The Bulldogs had a 16-9 lead before Howard gained some momentum. Howard would eventually closed to within 23-21, forcing a late Butler timeout. With BU leading 24-22, Kyle smacked a kill to clinch the set for Butler.

Butler had an easy third set, winning 25-14. BU led 12-6 early, forcing a timeout, before continuting to pull away. The lead extended to double digits at 21-11 before Butler finished the quick 3-0 victory.

The Bulldogs (3-1) will play Coastal Carolina and host Pittsburgh, Saturday, Sept. 1.
