Dawgs Hang On For 3-2 Victory

PITTSBURGH - Sophomore Belle Obert posted 19 kills and 11 digs and the Butler volleyball team served aggressively to a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday. 

Junior Maggie Harbison added a double-double with 10 kills, 13 digs and five service aces.

Butler aggressively smacked 15 aces on its way to its fourth straight victory. Sophomore Brooke Ruffolo led BU with 18 digs and a team-high six aces.

Jamie DiMaggio led Coastal Carolina with 21 digs. Gabriella Horvath had a double-double with 13 kill and 14 digs.

The Bulldogs started slow, as CCU built a 16-10 lead in the first set before holding on for a 25-22 win. The tables turned in the second set as Butler dominated for a 25-8 win. BU led 14-0 in the set before Coastal scored a point. Ruffolo had four aces in the set's decisive set. 

BU continued in the third set, winning 25-17 for a match lead. The Chanticleers answered with a 25-23 set win to tie the match 2-2. 

In the fifth set, Butler got off to a fast start, leading 7-1 and taking control of the match. Coastal Carolina came within 9-7 before Butler finished the victory.

BU (4-1) will play host Pittsburgh Saturday night.
