Bulldogs Improve to 2-0 in New Orleans

Butler seems to be enjoying their stay in "The Big Easy," posting their second victory in less than 24 hours. The Bulldogs downed Southeastern Louisiana 3-0 Saturday morning. The 30-12, 30-26, 30-28 decision leaves the team on the verge of capturing the New Orleans/Wyndham-Metairie Invitational.
Kali Carter led the Bulldogs with 18 kills and 14 digs. Amanda Matthews joined Carter in recording double-doubles for the second consecutive match by posting 49 assists and ten digs. Butler had a .349 (55-11-126) team attack percentage, compared to only .130 for SELU. Carter's play accounted for 20.5 points, while Krystal Hendrix added 12.5 points and a .500 (11-1-20) hitting percentage. Candice Washington and Megan Knightly each posted 11 points.
SELU had no players in double figure kills and fall to 1-1 in the tournament. The Lady Lions play Samford later today. Butler downed the Bulldogs 3-2 Friday night.
Butler will play host New Orleans at 7 p.m. tonight. Through two matches of the four-team, round robin tournament, the Bulldogs are the lone team without a loss.
