Butler fell to 1-1 at the Maryland Invitational, dropping a Saturday afternoon match to Northern Arizona, 30-26, 30-21, 30-18. Senior Kali Carter led the Bulldogs with nine kills, as the Bulldogs now stand at 5-5 on the season. The Lumberjacks improve to 2-7 with the win.
Junior libero Megan Knightly had a team-high 21 digs for the Bulldogs, while sophomore Laura White posted a career-high 10 assists, adding five digs. Twelve Bulldogs saw action in the match.
Ellie Butterfield led the Lumberjacks with 17 kills, while Marie Pastores led four players in double-digit digs with 25. NAU hit .164 for the match, compared to .014 for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs won't have long to think about the loss, as they turn around Saturday night and face host Maryland at 7:30 p.m. Entering Saturday's final session, the Terrapins are 2-0, while Butler and Northern Arizona have 1-1 records. Georgetown rounds out the four-team tournament with an 0-2 mark.
