Indianapolis, Ind. - Karen Weatherington, in her fifth season with the Butler volleyball team as an associate head coach, has been re-elected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Board of Directors to a second term. The AVCA made the announcement earlier this week.
Weatherington is the only incumbent director to be named to the five-person board, returning as the Assistant Coach Representative. The 15-year coaching veteran will begin her second term on Jan. 1, 2008.
"I see my role on the board as the advocate and voice of the assistant coaches in the sport of volleyball," Weatherington said. "I believe it is important to bring an assistant's perspective from a variety of levels in the volleyball ranks to the board and represent the constituency to the best of my ability."
During her tenure at Butler, Weatherington has served as the recruiting coordinator and has worked primarily with the Bulldogs' middle blockers, who have been consistently ranked among the best in the Horizon League in blocking.
The Bulldogs host Chicago State on Friday (Sept. 28) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
